You will look for keyword phrases that are descriptive of the area you are promoting (relevancy) and that have a history of higher search volume (this is relative, depending on the industry). All things being equal, would you rather get ranked on Google SERP for a term that gets 1 search per day or one that gets 100 searches per day? Also consider the competiveness of the keyword in deciding which to choose to go after. Google provides a Keyword Tool that provides good data.
Additionally, if your business is locally based or sells products or services through local channels, you should watch our Free Course on Local Business Listings. Keep in mind if your target keyword displays local results (Google Maps), then SEO work should consider the implicit local modifier.
